Who are you? Tell us a bit more about yourself!

B: I run a small restaurant Suburbia with my family, and oversee the marketing and events aspect, dealing mostly with weddings and corporate functions.
T: I am a financial investor. I mainly invest in Real Estate and Oil & Gas.

What’s your story? Tell us about a life-changing incident.

B: When my dad was diagnosed with first stage prostate cancer. When it happens to your own family, it hits so close to home, and made me realize life is fragile and unpredictable. I learnt to re-align my priorities in my life at that time.

Why 50for50 and why now?

The ripple effect and fund-matching of the program is very inspiring and gives great incentive to all parties involved. Also because our good friend Rebekah is spearheading the campaign and we wanted to show our support for a good cause. We’ve also always wanted to start doing something charitable but didn’t know where to start. So this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

What gets you up in the morning?

B: Exercise literally! There’s nothing like a sweaty yoga session to get the day started right.
Also the desire to accomplish what I’ve set out to do, as I’m a task-oriented person.

Why this cause out of so many causes?

I chose this one, because I feel that society might have become desensitized to people with who are deaf . Why I think so is because, as I am looking through the list of charities, I realised that I myself had become desensitized. I would like to raise awareness for this disability, and to remind others that it is still a disability, and like other disabilities, it requires financial and social support.

Any experiences with charity or non-profit work before?

B: Have casually participated in charity events but they were mostly a one-off affair, and not on a regular basis.
T: No

What kind of change are you looking to bring about as a changemaker?

To challenge ourselves in raising funds and awareness for the charity. In doing so, I hope to show to others that every little effort helps.

What is your big idea on how to raise funds for 50for50?
