Who are you? Tell us a bit more about yourself!

When I first started Success Legacy with my co-founder, Moses Low, we had in mind to make this an educational platform to promote lifelong learning to encourage more people to take action and we tried removing as many barriers of entry for learning (making it free when it streams live). Our aim was to encourage more people to take up entrepreneurship and to be able to upgrade and motivate themselves watching all these successful entrepreneurs share their personal experiences and teaching them the methods they used to overcome the struggles they faced. Doing more on a bigger scale than just an individual sharing session.

I like brainstorming with my team to find more mentors and reach out to them, meeting more inspiring people to find out what interests them, what motivates them and how they become as inspiring as they are. Just absorbing new information every day to find ways to make Success Legacy really helpful to others!

I love being able to reach out to more people and let them know the importance of lifelong learning. I love sharing what little I’ve learnt from the successful entrepreneurs I’ve met and my aim is really to grow with my entrepreneurial friend. Also, love to encourage more friends to take up entrepreneurship.

What’s your story? Tell us about a life-changing incident.

Not sure what story I can talk about actually. Maybe the one about how my mum went through an extremely tough time as an entrepreneur. She nearly went bankrupt when I was 14 and we were having a really tough time where we couldn’t sell our place or car without losing money. It was quite an emotional rollercoaster ride for us. This also made me understand the hardship entrepreneurs go through, that’s why we have in mind to form Success Legacy to pay it forward, to all the mentors who selflessly helped my mother, and in turn our family, to all the help we received we want to find more mentors to start sharing to guide people and their family to not go through the pain my family and I felt.

Why 50for50 and why now?

Well, I enjoy doing charity work but I’ve never been able to do it on a big scale, since I can now use my company to help facilitate and gather funds and it is also to celebrate Singapore’s 50th Birthday, I feel extremely excited, honoured and proud to be part of 50for50.

What gets you up in the morning?

The little fire I have within me to make Success Legacy’s vision come true. Watching it progress makes us excited!

Why this cause out of so many causes?

Why Autism Association Singapore? I only recently got to know that my nephew has autism and how my cousin (single mother) has difficulties finding him a school that suits his level of autism. She faced a lot of difficulties raising her son with autism and hearing this pains me that I didn’t know it earlier and I didn’t think there was lack of help for people with Autism. So I made a promise to myself that Success Legacy’s first ever charitable donations will go to Autism. I have a story for everything I do, it seems haha. So I am really very blessed and happy that I am given the chance to do this and it’s also for Singapore’s 50th birthday!

Any experiences with charity or non-profit work before?

I’ve been doing random charity work, gathering funds and organising duck tour for an orphanage was one of my first few. Then I joined Habitat for Humanity for Batam Build and Project Homeworks. I’ve been to a few old folks home to accompany the folks etc etc. Those common volunteer work that are available, I probably would have taken part in them. But I’m looking at doing something bigger. That’s why Success Legacy came about.

What kind of change are you looking to bring about as a changemaker?

I hope to change the mindset of people and encourage them to share, and to pay it forward. Why Success Legacy streams LIVE valuable and quality workshops for FREE is so that we can spread the word and share with the world, knowledge and wisdom from these entrepreneurs. Why these entrepreneurs are willing to share their precious time and experiences, is their part of paying it forward. For all charity causes, there must be a for profit arm to sustain them, which is why we will also make these workshops downloadable at a cost. We also need to make ourself sustainable to be able to help others.

We want to educate as many people as possible and hope they learn to share their experiences, in using the education we provide them, forward.

What is your big idea on how to raise funds for 50for50?

Success Legacy is a live streaming platform where we invite entrepreneurs or professionals to come on board and share their experiences and knowledge in a form of a workshop so people can learn regardless of location. It streams live to provide the interactive component, should there be questions, the speaker (whom we call mentor) will be able to answer and address some of the concerns right there and then. When it streams live, it is free for all to watch. When the course goes offline, it is downloadable at a cost. This is where like I told Rebekah, I will be donating part of the funds to this 50for50 VWO that I’ve chosen

I have quite a number of social media influencers as friends who are rearing to help me raise this fund and they are really excited for this project as well. I may have a fund raising section on the side of my website just to allow people to pledge amounts and help raise the $25,000. We will think of ways to get this done with my company other than just the downloads funding this.
