CHILDREN’S CANCER FOUNDATION
- The Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF) was founded in 1992 as a non-profit organization with a mission to improve the quality of life for children with cancer and their families through providing emotional, social & medical support. With the aim to become a world-class provider of resources & psycho-social services for families impacted by childhood cancer, CCF adopts an integrated hospital-home-community service to provide a myriad of services to their beneficiaries. CCF’s Hospital Team focuses on diagnosis, relapse & active treatment, also on board are its Community Team & Home Team, the former focuses on continuing care & survivorship, while the latter focuses on palliative, relapse cases & also bereavement.
- Heard of Hair for Hope? It is one of the signature events by CCF. The only head-shaving event in Singapore that serves to raise funds and awareness of childhood cancer as each shaven head represents a heightened understanding by an individual of what a child with cancer has to face. HfH started in 2003 with 9 volunteers and has come a long way as Hair for Hope 2014 saw 6,656 participants and raised a total of $3.29 million which go towards funding free critical programmes and services by CCF for children with cancer & their families. Another signature event by CCF is the International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) that was declared by International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parent Organizations (ICCCPO) in Luxembourg in 2001. On February 15th each year, CCF joins countries around the world to commemorate this day through activities.
