HUMANITARIAN ORGANIZATION OF MIGRATION ECONOMICS (HOME)
- The Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics (HOME) was registered as a charity in 2004 with the purpose to uphold rights of migrant workers in Singapore, including victims of forced labour and human trafficking. Through advocacy, welfare and empowerment activities, HOME seeks to create an inclusive society that is equal and non-discriminatory. HOME believes the rights to the dignity of work and life are fundamental human rights.
- With the vision to “build a culture of welcome where no man, woman or child is a stranger; we are family”, HOME sets out to raise awareness through talks and media contact. In 2007, HOME launched a campaign to encourage regular day off for domestic workers. In 2011, HOME partnered with The Body Shop and UN Women & Expat, to campaign against sex trafficking. They proposed for an establishment of anti-trafficking law, which subsequently led to the proposal for the law in 2014. HOME also provides helpdesks and helplines for migrant workers who require help via provision of counselling and employment advice. Some other services provided include legal aid, skills training & shelter for women & victims of human trafficking.
