SINGAPORE ASSOCIATION FOR MENTAL HEALTH (SAMH)
- Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH) established in 1968 as the first community mental health agency in Singapore. With the aim to provide quality step-down care and rehabilitative services to persons with mental health conditions, SAMH today operates eight centres in Singapore that provide a wide range of services.
- SAMH offers services that span into four key areas – Rehabilitative Services, Outreach Services, Residential Services and Peer Support. Some of the non funded initiatives include the Club 3R which stands for Relax, Rehabilitation and Recovery, is the first drop-in centre in Singapore for persons recovering from psychiatric conditions. By providing a supportive environment with opportunities, the members of the club could work on their personal, social and vocational skills. Another would be the Creative Hub, a platform that promotes psychological wellness and mental health recovery through expressive arts and creative therapies. Predicating on the belief that people can heal through the various forms of creative expression, visual arts, music and dance, Creative Hub uses these tools to enhance emotions, cognitive abilities, motor skills and body movement of the clients as a form of therapy.
