SPECIAL OLYMPICS SINGAPORE
- Not to be confused with the Para Olympics Singapore, Special Olympics (SO) was set up in April 1983 as an adjunct committee of the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled Of Singapore (MINDS) & Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN), becoming a registered independent Voluntary Welfare Organization. Aim to promote and provide year round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympics type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Special Olympics Singapore started programmes and initiatives for different categories of athletes. For healthy athletes, programmes like Fit Feet, a podiatry, FUNfitness, a form of physical therapy, are offered.
- For young athletes, early intervention programme consisting of non-competitive innoVative sports play that promote fundamental movement skills development of children with intellectual disabilities.
