VIVA FOUNDATION

Viva Foundation for Children with Cancer is one of the only charities that focuses on saving the lives of children with cancer through research, medical care and education. The word “Viva” means “long live!” and that is exactly the aim of Viva as they believe that every child deserves to live and no child should die in the dawn of their lives. In 2013, Viva started the Viva-CCF Hub which houses Viva foundation, Children Cancer Foundation, the Singapore Cord Blood Bank, the Bone Marrow Donor Programme and PALS school for children with cancer. With the vision to create a childhood cancer hub, this space was provided by Far East Organization at Novena Specialist Center. This gives the organization a safe and infection-controlled environment for children that have low immunity whilst undergoing treatments such as radiotherapy/chemotherapy to study & play before assimilating back to the mainstream schools.

One of Viva Foundation’s foremost aims is to improve cure rates for childhood cancers by initiating clinical research programmes. One such research sponsored by Viva is treatment for children with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, in which the doctors managed to develop a personalized cancer treatment protocol that improves childhood cancer cure rates by decreasing the mortality through the reduction of chemotherapy side effects. Also, Viva Foundation coordinates the annual St Jude-VIVA Forum in Paediatric Oncology, where delegates from all over the world would have the opportunity to learn from and network with world leaders in the field of paediatric oncology.
