Who are you? Tell us a bit more about yourself!

Fate led me to my passion project,, an entertainment and lifestyle site that has allowed me to synthesize my varied interests in fashion, art, theatre, film and music. Since entering the workforce, I am not as deeply involved in the site as I was during its inception nearly 4 years ago. Through the site, I am fortunate to have met many like-minded individuals. In my downtime, I draw energy and gain inspiration from these people to steer the site in a constructive direction.

Being part of the creative community, I feel doubly blessed that my current job allows me to shape Singapore’s vibrant intellectual property landscape.

What’s your story? Tell us about a life-changing incident.

Sometime ago, my godbrother passed on. Having gone down the legal path, he shared with me life lessons – I looked up to him as a mentor, and foremostly, a dear friend. He was young, and I was bewildered by how quickly a flame can be extinguished. Even in his passing, he managed to impart one last lesson to me: Never take a single day for granted.

Why 50for50 and why now?

Since our time on earth is limited, we might as well try our best to make our stay a pleasant one. We can start by being kind to the people around us, and hopefully, these good vibes will rub off positively on the wider community. Why now? Because procrastination is the thief of time.

What gets you up in the morning?

Being able to do things I believe in. Also, a good, strong cuppa coffee.

Why this cause out of so many causes?

I believe everyone should be given the opportunity to develop their full potential. Without specialized educational guidance, dyslexics are unable to unlock their latent talent. Although their forte may not lie in rote learning, dyslexics are known to be adept in other fields for example, creative thinking, which should be embraced for them to excel.

Any experiences with charity or non-profit work before?

I travelled to a rural part of China to teach children English. Their thirst for knowledge and curiousness of the world outside their village, inspired me to venture beyond my comfort zone to serve the larger community when I can.

Prior to joining IPOS, I was a litigator and assisted in pro bono criminal matters. Some cases were more challenging than others, but the satisfaction of successfully aiding a less privileged client made it all worthwhile.

What kind of change are you looking to bring about as a changemaker?

By raising awareness of the condition, dyslexics can be identified at a young age so they’ll be given proper assistance to harness their strengths, and rise above the disabling aspects of the condition. It is heartening to know that revered entrepreneurs such as Richard Branson have successfully dealt with dyslexia, and achieved so much.

What is your big idea on how to raise funds for 50for50?

I love giving my paintings to friends or people who appreciate art. Thus it seemed natural to translate this love into a cause. I will be garnering donations through the sale of my past art pieces and specially crafted cards to spread the Christmas cheer.
