Who are you? Tell us a bit more about yourself!

TCK: I always go by this philosophy in what I do in life; Carpe Diem, seize the day. Life is too short to waste, too short to hate. Instead seize every moment to learn and experience something new.

JL: I am a person that will only do something that I believe in

What’s your story? Tell us about a life-changing incident.

TCK: After I came back from my overseas exchange, I realised I have so much learn about the world

JL: After I started work, I realized life wasn’t a fairy tale.

Why 50for50 and why now?

TCK: I think 50 for 50 is a good avenue we can express our help to local charities, and what a better time to do it for Singapore’s 50th birthday!

JL: It’s a significant milestone for Singapore as its her 50th birthday and I’ve always wanted to do something for charity but never had the impetus to do so until now

What gets you up in the morning?

TCK: The global markets gets me up every morning, knowing that each day is going to be a different day, and learning something new.

JL: What gets me up would probably be the fact that each day is a brand new day. Even though it might be a routine, there is usually something that I can be thankful for. So getting up everyday helps me to learn to appreciate what I have.

Why this cause out of so many causes?

TCK: It is very encouraging to see that there are people out there not hindered by their disabilities and I would like to support them to strive on and better themselves.

JL: Because there is a lot of things I can learn from them; they don’t use their disability as an excuse not to succeed in life and we should encourage them to further their sporting abilities.

Any experiences with charity or non-profit work before?

TCK: Several short stints locally and overseas; events with sunbeam and bishan home, overseas project in Myanmar by helping an orphanage to paint its façade and teaching the kids english.

JL: I helped an elderly day care centre in America when I was studying there by helping with the kitchen.

What kind of change are you looking to bring about as a changemaker?

TCK: Not only to help Special Olympics, but to tell people out there that they shouldn’t let anything obstruct them from getting what they want.
JL: To tell people out there that they should strive hard for what they want and not give themselves excuses.

What is your big idea on how to raise funds for 50for50?

Throwing a Halloween party to fund raise.
